Real photo postcard: Illinois Terminal
Depot/Station, Gillespie, IL. |
| Date |

1950 |
| Description |
: |
A somewhat out of focus real photo
postcard of the IT Depot. This depot,
right up to the last day of passenger
service on March 3, 1956, was heated by
a coal-burning pot belly stove. I would
assume that the coal came from nearby,
because Gillespie was historically a
coal mining community. My maternal
grandfather was a coal miner and lived
most of his life in Gillespie. There is
no publisher or number identified on
this card.
