This shot shows a lingering impression
of the past glories of the ITS. The
tracks once carried a vast number of
electric trains to many Illinois points.
In this view only a single track
remains under Norfolk Southern
ownership, and a train comes into bring
newsprint into the St. Louis Post-
Dispatch printing operation once or
twice per week. Rail Switching
Services of Missouri has filed for
abandonment of this line in 2005.
