Highline at Branch Street,
looking north, St. Louis, MO. |

: |
February 11, 1987 |
| Description |
: |
This 1987 view of the old ITS
Highline shows the tracks as
they lead up to the McKinley
Bridge. The track to the right
in the photo is used by Rail
Switching Services of Missouri
as of this writing in Janaury
2005. The RSSM will bring
empty boxcars from the St.
Louis Post-Dispatch downtown,
and haul them up the right
track in the photo to a point
where the engine and cars clear
the switch. The train is then
backed over the left track in
the photo and set out along side
the highline to the south of
Branch Street for pick up by the
Norfolk Southern. The RSSM unit
will then pick up one or two new
boxcars of newsprint and reverse
the operation through the maze of
tracks and take them to the news-
paper downtown on Tucker Boulevard.
The tracks are owned by Norfolk
Southern according to signage.
